Never fear! The first trailer forThe Tickis here! That’s right, everyone. Amazon Video has released the first trailer forThe Tickseason 1, which will be available exclusively for Amazon Prime members later this year starting August 25. This first trailer looks to be a perfect modern update for the famed blue spoof on the American superhero. All we need now is to hear him yell “Spoon” before taking out some bad guys and everything anyone could want from aTick TV seriesis there.
Amazon Video gave the green light toThe Tickafter featuring the show as part of its pilot season, which happens irregularly. Basically, Amazon puts up a handful of pilots for various TV shows and those who watch the shows can vote on whether or not they would like to see more. It worked out well forThe TIck, as the show was given a full season order, which will consist of a six-episode first part, which drops next month, and a second batch of episodes that will drop sometime in 2018.
The Tickseason 1 featuresPeter Serafinowicz, who you may recognize fromGuardians of the GalaxyorJohn Wick: Chapter 2. InThe Tick, we see a world where superheroes have been real for decades. An underdog accountant with zero powers comes to realize his city is owned by a global super villain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover this conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero. This underdog accountant is played by Griffin Newman, who becomesThe Tick’s partner Arthur Everest. We see him in his full, pretty rad looking costume in the trailer.
In addition to Peter Serafinowicz and Griffin Newman,The TickstarsJackie Earle Haley(Watchmen), Valorie Curry (House of Lies), Yara Martinez (Jane the Virgin) and Brendan Hines (Scorpion).The Tickis executive produced by Ben Edlund (Supernatural), Barry Josephson (Bones) and Barry Sonnenfeld (A Series of Unfortunate Events). The pilot is directed by Wally Pfister (The Dark Knight). It is pretty interesting that there aren’t any big names inThe Tickseason 1. No disrespect to Jackie Earle Haley, but his name alone doesn’t necessarily get people to turn up.
This is far from the first time thatThe Tickhas been brought to the small screen. There was an animated series, which was based on theBen Edlund comics, that debuted in 1994 and helped bring the character into the mainstream. Fox also made a short lived live-action version ofThe Tickin 2001 starring Patrick Warburton. Hopefully, this version of the hero won’t be cut so short. Interestingly enough, every version ofThe Tickhas given the character a different origin, ranging from him being an alien to an escaped mental patient.
