During the Xbox-Bethesda Summer showcase The Last Case of Benedict Fox, a narrative-driven metroidvania title was revealed. This follows the tale of Mr. Fox all in 2.5D who has a number of demonic companions and monsters to battle. The game explores a mansion based in Boston set in 1925, where you will need to uncover what happened to the rest of the family. It uncovers Benedict’s dead father’s memories along the way.
The explores the world of Limbo, the consciousness of the deceased, melding together exploration and combat. Wield supernatural abilities as well as knives and guns. The trailer description teases “secret organisations, forbidden rituals and cold-blood murders”. There seems to be some secrets to uncover in this plot as you go deeper into the twisted world. The footage features a jazzy soundtrack and some more sinister tracks mixed in.
From the looks of the gameplay it’s a side-scroller with some platforming but with a focus on challenging combat.
The Last Case of Benedict Foxwill release in Spring 2023 for Steam, Epic Games Store and Game Pass for PC.
