With apps becoming more advanced and powerful with each passing day, an unfortunate side effect is that those same apps grow in size. Consequently, the apps we use every day have a tendency to eat up significant portions of our handsets’ valuable non-upgradeablestoragespace.
iPhone and iPad users can discern which apps are using the most substantial helpings of your storage by visiting theSettings → General → iPhone/iPad Storagepreference pane, but it sure would be nice if Apple provided more sorting options. That’s where a newly released and freejailbreak tweakdubbedStorageByNameby iOS developerudevscomes into play.

StorageByName essentially gives jailbreakers a bevy of new ways to sort through the storage usage list. While iOS automatically sorts by size by default, StorageByName builds upon this brilliant functionality by letting users opt to sort the applications in this list by name, size, last-used date, or install date. What’s more is users can list those applications by ascending or descending order, whichever is preferred.
The screenshot examples embedded above depict how the storage pane looks before installing StorageByName and after. You’ll notice all the new sorting options at the top of the pane, right off the bat.
Apart from what you see above, StorageByName doesn’t have any options to configure. We enjoy that the tweak is integrated directly into iOS’ native storage pane and that it doesn’t add any convoluted options to configure in a separate preference pane. With that in mind, the tweak is particularly well-made at first glance.
If you’re interested in giving StorageByName a try, then the tweak can bedownloaded for free from the udevs repositoryvia your favorite package manager. The tweak currently supportsjailbrokeniOS 10, 11, 12, and 13 devices.
Those who aren’t already using the udevs repository can add it to their package manager of choice by using the following URL:
