Sea of Starswill launch its DLC calledThroes of the Watchmaker, which will be available at no cost onPS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It will feature a new playable character, a brand-new region, and plenty of surprises.

Sabotage Studio’s game has stayed active through additional content, like the free Dawn of the Equinox update released in 2024, which added a prologue and cooperative mode.
Now it’s time forThroes of the Watchmaker,a DLC packed with fresh content arriving in just a few weeks — and most importantly, it will be completely free.
Zale and Valere,the Solstice Warriors, will embark on a new adventure in three weeks, journeying to a clockwork world calledHorlogeto confront a mysterious villain.
Adapting to the rules of this new realm brings gameplay changes, including a new progression system that introduces new classes, abilities, and combos — transforming how our heroes play.
New Classes and Progression System
Valerewill become an acrobat for this challenge, whileZaletakes on the role of a juggler. They won’t be alone either — a third playable character,Artificer or “Arty”, joins the party.
This mechanical sharpshooter also enables local three-player co-op, one of the major new features introduced in theDLC.
The expansion also includes new areas to explore, brand-new dungeons, more minigames, unique enemies, bosses, and puzzles — all adding up to more than 8 hours of additional gameplay.
ComposerYasunori Mitsuda, known for classics likeChrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, returns with three new tracks that blend seamlessly into Eric W. Brown’s soundtrack forThroes of the Watchmaker.
How to Access the DLC
To access this content, players must unlock the ability to fly to different parts of the map, which will then allow them to reach the tiny city ofHorloge.
OnceArtificeris introduced, players will be able to control her, as well as use the new classes forZale and Valere.
This expansion is nearly a sequel in itself, thanks to the sheer amount of content and its length — something quite rare for free DLC.
Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmakerwill be available to download free of charge onTuesday, May 20across all platforms — the perfect opportunity to revisit (or discover) this gem of the JRPG genre.
