There’s already plenty of buzz for the sequel, and if one takes López’s previous comments about a follow-up to heart, we can expect a thoughtfully crafted film. During the Hollywood strikes, López was asked about the possibility of a follow-up film; while noting that the strikes had to be sorted out first, he shared:
“The film’s message of hope and love is resonating deeply and it’s been particularly gratifying to see so many people falling in love once again with Alex and Henry. If a sequel were to happen, the worst thing would be for it to be rushed. It would need to be as thoughtfully and as carefully made as the first one.”
There is no word yet on when we can expect to see what’s next for Alex and Henry.
