Grinding Gear Games have unveiled their lockdown project which is a new expansionPath of Exile: Heist.
Path of Exile: Heist Expansion Announced
The third major expansion for the free-to-play online ARPGPath of Exilehas been announced called Heist. It will launch onSeptember 18th on PC and Mac, then on September 23rd for PS4 and Xbox One.
Heist will bring a new challenge for players, together with a hired crew of some specialised thieves, it will be there job to infiltrate a secure facility to retrieve valuable Artifacts. After gaining your prized loot, you’ll need to quickly escape, and make it to the extraction point, or face losing everything they stole.
Path of Exile Game Director explains that thrill of risk and reward:
The experience of knowing exactly what rewards you’ll lose if you can’t successfully complete the Heist is a new type of game tension we’re excited to explore. It’s all about the rush of the escape.
According to the press release, this is all to work up to a Grand heist, the ultimate goal. to get to this stage you will need to “gather wealth and intel” to gain Blueprints of a number of expansive facilities. Your hired team will also need to be well-prepared, trained and carry the right gear for the job. But with risk comes great rewards, players will be tempted into completing Heists with the chance to gain Alternate Quality Gems, Weapon and Body Armor Enchantments, Replica Uniques and Thieves' Trinkets which can affect the rewards you receive.

Heist is one of Grinding Gear Game’s most ambitious expansions as it adds a number of new elements to the game. The Heist feature sounds pretty fun, adding some more variety to what the game already offers, and could lead to some great rewards if you pull off the mission successfully. This sounds like it could add a unique almost tactical CRPG element to the already expansive game. And if you were wondering if you’ll hear some interesting conversations between your Rogues for hire, there is promise ofjuicy banter to look forward to.
