Just days after the first fullPunisher trailerdebuted, Marvel and Netflix have released a new image that shows Jon Bernthal in full costume as the title character. It was also confirmed that this series will debut sometime in 2017, although an exact premiere date has not been revealed at this time. This comes just a few months after director Dearbhla Walsh teased in an interview that the episode ofThe Punishershe directed won’t be released until November.

Marvelreleased this new image today, along with an official version of the trailer, which seemingly leaked a few days earlier than anticipated. The earlier version of the trailer didn’t feature a closing tag, which confirmed that the show will premiere at some time in 2017, only on Netflix, although the date was obscured. It should only be a matter of time before thePunisher release dateis revealed for this highly-anticipated series. This will mark the first year that Netflix has released three Marvel shows in one year, withIron Fistdebuting in March,The Defendersdebuting this past weekend andThe Punisherarriving by the end of this year.

Series star Jon Bernthal took fans by surprise atComic-Con 2017last month with an unannounced surprise visit, where he showcased the first ever footage from this first season ofThe Daredevilspin-off. The footage included scenes from Frank Castle’s more peaceful past, including shots of his daughter playing the guitar, along with more action-packed scenes with Frank Castle engaged in a car chase with members of the Dogs of Hell, who were previously featured in bothDaredevilandAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) is serving as Executive Producer and Showrunner in addition to writing the series' first two episodes, which he co-wrote with co-creator and executive producer Edward Allen Bernero.Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory and Rob Kim will also serve as executive producers onThe Punisher.The Punishermarks the sixth series ordered thus far as part of the groundbreaking collaboration between Marvel Television and Netflix includingDaredevil,Jessica Jones,Luke Cage,Iron FistandThe Defenders.The Punisheris produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
