Best Longswords for The Build
Two longswords will shine with this setup, but one is harder to get your hands on than the other.
Your build can be split into two categories depending on your sword. If you like theLashing Whipdue to the range and weapon skill it has to offer, you can easily stick with it for the majority of the game, but you may want to move into the Spear or Axe categories for the provided stats in each tree. Lashing Whip is a fantastic choice for this build; it is easy to find early on in the game and provides consistent damage while scaling with Strength and Agility nodes in the skill tree.
If you get your hands on theSerpent Fanglongsword, you will then want to move into the One-Handed Sword tree instead. Serpent Fang will scale with feathering much more than other longsword options, while also having great damage and speed. The only issue with this longsword is that it isn’t available until the final portion of the game, and it can be missed if you engage with the final area before you’ve gone searching for it. Even if you don’t miss Serpent Fant, your weapon of choice will come down to your preference for weapon skills. Both are great and offer different routes to choose in the skill tree.

Skill Tree Sections to Build Into
When considering a longsword build, you have to look at your playstyle first.
The first thing you should know about this build in particular is that it won’t be completed until the final act of the game. A majority of your levels will go into theHealthandLongswordtrees. The One-Handed Sword, Spear, or Axe trees will be what you want to use for bonuses to this build, but they won’t be nearly as fleshed out. The Spear and Axe trees will provideHealth,Endurance, andAgilitybonuses that are plentiful if you go with the Lashing Whip longsword.
What you’ll be working towards is maxing out as much of the longsword tree as possible, while gaining as manyManna Vasebenefits for extra healing potency and flasks to heal. If you are going to build into using the Serpent Fang longsword, you’ll be looking to gain a boost in the feathering stat. Feathering bonuses can be found in the Manna Vase andOne-Handed Swordtrees. With both offering more than enough bonues to the stat, allowing you to add a huge increase to the damage to the Serpent Fang if you go for the weapon.

Using the otherDiscipline Skillswith the longsword is entirely up to preference and the bosses you will be going up against. One of the main pieces of the skill tree you will want to gain access to right away will be the Sword Counter deflection skill in the longsword tree, which will allow you to negate incoming weapon damage from an overwhelming majority of enemies you encounter. The second piece isSteel Resolve; this skill node can be found in the Manna Vase skill tree. Steel Resolve will provide one stack ofSkyborn Mightwhen deflecting incoming attacks.
Some final nodes you need to unlock quickly are theAlacrityandPoise Breaknodes. Alacrity will provide some bonuses to casting certain spells, and the Poise BreakBone Needlewill increase your weapon’s poise buildup on enemies. Alacrity isn’t going to make or break the build; a single point that can add some extra evasion options while you’re under pressure is always useful.

Weapon Benediction To Use
You need to make the most of the three benedictions to increase your damage output. There are three specific weapon Benedictions you’ll want to get your hands on. One of these won’t be available until very late into the game, so you have to find some others to slot into your preferred weapon.
Benedictions to slot into your Longsword:
The Disciplinary Force benedictions are fantastic for increasing your damage, with damageincreasingwith the more Discipline Skills that you have unlocked. There is another option based on preference as well:Counter Force. You can slot in the Wei - Counter Force benediction instead of the third Disciplinary Force, which will increase the potency of your counterattack when you’ve successfully deflected an attack.
While spells aren’t the focus, there are still four that will prove to be useful.
This build won’t be centered around spellcasting in many ways either, but there are a few that you’ll want to keep on hand to perform last-minute dodges from any incoming attacks. These spells are going to be great for staying safe and dealing minor damage to the boss, keeping their stance meter from decaying.
Two notable spells are going to be the best to use. TheEcho of Lu Bingzhangis a spell that scales with your Feathering stat. The second is theBurning Flamesspell, which scales with Magic. Both will trigger Alacrity, and if you have the correct skill tree node, you can gain a stack of Skyborn Might by using either of these spells to avoid incoming damage. Even if you don’t build into magic or feathering damage, these will give you a third option in this build to avoid damage and keep pressure on bosses.

Armor and Jade Pendants
Your choice of armor and pendants in battle can take this build up to another level.
Armor isn’t the most essential thing to keep track of in the game. Some do offer great resistance, and in the late game, you may want to use armor that can provide extra defense against feathering damage. TheAvian Hunterand theClerical Robessets provide solid feathering mitigation for late game if you do end up taking a bit too much damage from the enemies within this area. Throughout the rest of the game, you’ll be fine using whatever armor you prefer.
Jade Pendants will offer a variety of benefits, making these very important in rounding out the rest of the build. In general, you want ones that will complement your playstyle with your build. TheTwin Lion Pendantwill increase the power of Discipline skills, meaning you can equip a second longsword of your choice with a damaging skill as a secondary option for damage output.Crimson Pendantis one to use if you’re using the Serpent Fang longsword, increasing the weapon’s feathering damage.

The must-have pendants will be theTwin Infant Pendantand theTiger Pendant. The Twin Infant Pendant will increase your Stamina recovery speed, keeping you topped off during the fight and able to dodge after a combo. The Tiger Pendant will increase the potency of your physical attacks. Both of these will keep your weapon damage and your stamina in a solid spot at all times during fights, providing some extra buffers to any potential hiccups you encounter.
This is arguably one of, if not the best, builds for the longsword in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. It offers extremely high poise damage on bosses, provides consistent physical or feathering damage, and gives you freedom to choose two of the best weapons as your main weapon for the game. There is also the ability to experiment on what works best; you aren’t locked into one or the other for the entire game. Resetting your tree to find what works better for you as a player is part of what makes each obstacle entertaining within the game.
