Skydance Games today confirmed that the Amy Hennig-led Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra won’t make its 2025 release date.
The game will now launch early 2026. Skydance Games confirmed the delayvia a statementstating the team needed additional time to polish the title. The studio also promised to share more soon, which is good considering very little has been shown of the game so far. Despite a 2022 reveal, Skydance Games has shown very little of the game to the public. Knowing this, the delay to 2026 isn’t that surprising.

The World War II-era action-adventure game stars Captain America and Black Panther as they battle against a sinister Hydra plot
What is this game?
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was first teased at D23 2022, revealing that the game would involve both Captain America and Black Panther during World War II. At GDC 2024, at the State of Unreal presentation, we finally got a title and a first look at some in-game cinematics. Since then, however, the game has gone mostly radio silent.
Rise of Hydra is described as a narrative-driven action-adventure title where players will control four different characters. In addition to Steve Rogers' Captain America and Azzuri’s Black Panther, players will also take control of Howling Commandos Member Gabriel Jones and Nanali, a Wakandan spy based in Paris, France. How each character plays, or even how the game plays in general, have not been revealed. We don’t even have confirmed platforms for the game. Hopefully, we’ll get a real look at the gameplay, and what platforms the game is coming to, at some point this year.
A Marvel game renaissance
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is one of many games coming under the Marvel Games publishing label. Looking to build upon the massive success of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel Games has teamed up with notable publishers and developers to bring their games to life. In addition to Skydance Games, the publishing arm is teaming up with Motive Studio for an Iron Man game, Cliffhanger Games for a Black Panther title, Arkane Lyon for a Blade title, and Insomniac Games for Marvel’s Wolverine. Recent successes include Iron Man VR (Camoflauj), Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (Eidos Montreal), Marvel Snap (Second Dinner), and Marvel Rivals (NetEase Games).
Skydance Games and Amy Hennig, meanwhile, have their plates full. In addition to finishing up Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the studio is also working on an untitled Star Wars game. However, no details have been revealed about that title.
How each character plays, or even how the game plays in general, have not been revealed. We don’t even have confirmed platforms for the game.
