Manor Lordshas received a significant update after some time that has upgraded the title to Unreal Engine 5 and introduced a few new systems, along with improvements across the board. One of the new systems is fishing, which allows players to catch another valuable food resource to survive, grow, sell, and trade. Here is everything you need to know about the fishing system in Manor Lords.
Fishing in Manor Lords Explained
Compared to a few other food types in Manor Lords, catching fish is fairly straightforward, asplayers need to construct aFisherman’s Hutand assign workers to it.Keeping an eye on thequantity of the resource and spoilageare the two key factors in ensuring steady generation and maintenance. We’ll explain each aspect of fishing below.
Shoal of Fish
Upon generating a new map in Manor Lords, you’ll seeShoal of Fishappear in a region. You can’t have both berries and aShoal of Fishappear in the same region as that would throw off the early food resource gathering balance.
These are ponds that hold a fixed amount of fish, which is regenerated every month throughout Spring.

However, you can overfish and deplete the pond, so it’s best to keep an eye on the Shoal and strive to catch around 50% of the fish quantity. This way, more fish can be regenerated to maximum capacity the next month without the fear of depletion or lowered birth rates.
Increase Fish Quantity in Ponds and Unlock Year-Round Fishing
Thankfully, you can double the fish capacity of each pond and unlock the ability to fish all year round. To do this, you need to unlock the “Advanced Pondkeeping” branch in the Development tree.
During winters, workers will cut holes in the ice and catch fish from beneath the frozen surface.

How to Catch Fish in Manor Lords
To catch fish in Manor Lords, you need to construct a Fisherman’s Hut, which costs 2 Timber. you’re able to assign a maximum of three families to each Hut, and they’ll catch fish from a nearby pond.
The fishing animation isn’t as long, but we recommend building the Hut near a pond to avoid travel time.

Storing Fish and Avoidng Spoilage
Fishes have the highest spoilage rate from the start, so it’s important to move them from the Fisherman’s Hut to the Granary as soon as possible. Having a Granary close to the Hut will increase the overall efficiency of fish storage.
The Granary will lower the spoilage rate fromHightoMedium, and an upgraded Granary will lower it further and allow you to store more fish in its pantry.

Fishing Associated Buildings in Manor Lords
Overall, to make sure you’re fishing and then properly storing it, you will need to build the following:
For now, that’s all there is to fishing, and we highly recommend unlocking theAdvanced Pondkeepingbranch to ensure you can fish all year. You can alsotrade fish in Manor Lords, and earn a decent amount of capital while you’re at it.

Ali has been writing about video games for the past six years and is always on the lookout for the next indie game to obsess over and recommend to everyone in sight. When he isn’t spending an unhealthy amount of time in Slay the Spire, he’s probably trying out yet another retro-shooter or playing Dark Souls for the 50th time.
