Imagine if there was a spin-off toThe Last of Usthat starredLiam Neesonas a retired bioterror operative who teams up with a couple of young kids to stop a zombie outbreak. Imagine even further if that spin-off was ahorrorcomedy thriller filled with over-the-top gore, and you have yourselfCold Storage, the new flick by director Jonny Campbell that was written by the same person who’s penned such hits asJurassic Park,Mission: Impossible, andSpider-Man.
Thankfully, you don’t have to imagine it any longer, as the first trailer forCold Storagejust dropped (seen below), and if it’s any indication of what the actual movie will be like, we’re in for a real treat when it hits theaters next year. Seriously, this movie has everything from exploding heads and a military cover-up, to elevator-riding deer and infected felines. What’s not to love?
Written by David Koepp and based on his 2019 novel of the same name,Cold Storagealso stars Georgina Campbell (The Watchers,Bird Box Barcelona) andStranger Things' Joe Keery as Naomi and Teacake, two young adults who work the night shift at a self‑storage facility built atop an old U.S. military base. When rising temperatures cause a parasitic fungus to mutate and spread, it’s up to them and Neesonto prevent the outbreak from reaching the outside world. Also along for the ride are the incomparable Vanessa Redgrave, Lesley Manville, Sosie Bacon, and Darrell D’Silva, to name a few.
Liam Neeson Is on a Roll Right Now
While he’s always been a favorite of many, Neeson seems to be on a hot streak right now when it comes to making movies that fans love. He’s currently starring inone of the hottest comedies of the summer,The Naked Gun, and has no less than four other projects that are either filming, or in post-production, includingCold Storage.
TheTakenstar will be seen in an adaptation of the Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss graphic novel4 Kids Walk Into a Bank, which is a heist comedy hemled by first-time feature director Frankie Shaw. Also on Neeson’s plate is yet another action thriller titledHotel Tehran, which focuses on a group of disgraced ex‑CIA operatives who are tasked with infiltrating Tehran on a high-stakes mission to pull off a life-changing score.
From there it’sCold Storage, which looks absolutely bonkers, as well as – you guessed it – another action flick titledThe Mongoose. Also starring Marisa Tomei, Ving Rhames, and Michael Chiklis, that one centers around a war hero accused of a crime he didn’t commit who, with nothing to lose and the help of his former Special Forces Army battalion, leads police on an epic televised cross-country car chase as a fascinated public cheers him on.
Thus far, the only project that has a firm release date is4 Kids Walk Into a Bank, which is slated to be released on June 04, 2025. We’ll have more news on the others, including a release date forCold Storage, as it becomes available.
