The star recounted a story about how her daughter Laila saw her longtime partner Bryan Randall watching the hit Netflix South Korean seriesSquid Gameand got upset.
The actress said that her daughter was upset and depressed not because of the violence in the show but because there weren’t any Black people in it. Bullock recounted her daughter saying,“I don’t want Dad to watch that … because there are no Black people in it.”Her daughter’s reaction did surprise the star but it also made her happy.

During the Red Table Talk, Sandra Bullock admitted that as a white parent, she was afraid for her Black children’s future. She admitted that“as a white parent who loves her children more than life itself, I’m scared of everything.”Also, the actress said:
“I have to think about what they’re going to experience leaving the home. They’re going to have my fear, but how can I make sure my anxiety is accurate [and] protective?”

TheSpeedstar further said that she could have transferred“all kinds of existential anxiety on them”accidentally. But Bullock stated that she lets her children experience everything rather than protecting them from the real-world issues of being Black. As per the actress, she“lets [her children] see everything on television and lets [them] process it.”It’s perhaps the best way to ensure that they get a realistic view of what’s going on in the world.
