Despite not looking like it,Elden Ring Nightreignalmost feels like a live service game with the amount of content and cycling that is already happening so early after launch. While you’re able to take down the Nightlords within a week, FromSoftware thought that wasn’t enough and have been introducing vastly improved and enhanced boss fights. It’s not just added health or difficulty, but completely reworking the fight to have entirely new move sets in Sentient Pest’s case, a new add to throw in. They say two heads are better than one, but what about three heads?

The snapping jaw is back for more, but this time he has brought quite a shocking entrance.

Weakness: Fire

Animus, Ascendant Light Moveset

Description

When killing either Gnoster or Faurtis, Animus will put itself in one of their bodies, enhancing that Nightlord’s attacks.

Pillars of Light

If left on the field for too long, Animus will bring down a rain of lasers with one final massive radius blow at the end.

Just like the other Everdark Sovereigns, the Sentient Pest starts out in the second phase of the standard version with both Faurtis and Gnoster joined together. The first phase actually feels a little easier than before, with the health pool being significantly smaller. This is because you’ll want to get to the epic second phase as fast as possible. Almost every attack these two do is from the original fight, so if you’re interested in their attack patterns, be sure tocheck out our guide.

With that said, you’re still able to die pretty easily in this phase because, just like the original, the two will join together and charge at one player multiple times, unleashing various beams of light in that direction. He definitely feels a lot more aggressive, though, as the intensity of the few attacks has been heightened.

After killing Gnoster, like a phoenix, Animus appears and rises the two from the ashes. This actually isn’t downtime, so take advantage of the two, Gnoster and Faurtis, being on the ground recovering health. They have a set amount of health they will recover, but doing damage during this time will chip away quite a bit right off the bat.

Both of these bosses are essentially the same as they were in the first phase of the original fight, separated, just with added moves when Animus is involved. Whenever one of the two die, Animus will resurrect them by entering their bodies. You will be doing damage to both Animus and their host, so if you find one easier than the other to take down, be sure to focus target that boss first. We found Faurtis a little easier to get a handle of, even though his roar attack is quite annoying, doing consistent damage whenever active.

Faurtis does also have large delayed attacks whenever he slams the ground, causing red mist to shoot up. Thankfully, this isn’t Rot like it would appear. Gnoster, on the other hand, is mostly just faster attacks and his rain of light is significantly more dangerous and is a much longer attack that you should run out of as fast as possible.

If left out long enough, Animus will begin to attack with some strong attacks. One such is that he will put various red pillars of light around the field, with laser beams raining down. This is immensely deadly if you’re in the middle of attacking or fighting one of the other two, because the spacing between each laser is pretty tight for the most part, and the final strike has a massive radius. With that said, if you’re able to dodge all of these, Animus becomes very open to damage while casting this, so it can easily be punished with multiple people. Regardless, we still recommend taking down one of the two as fast as possible, preferably Faurtis.
