iam8bitand Coin Crew Games announced Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School, a follow-up to the 2022-developed Escape Academy. The game is an open-world escape room game, pushing the boundaries of the genre and the companies plan to release it on PC (Steam, Epic Store) in 2026. The game’s store is already open on Valve’s store for wishlisting.
An Open World of Mystery and Puzzles
Escape Academy 2 is a brand-new game from Coin Crew Games. The developers aim to expand on the puzzle-solving experience of the original game, making an open-world explorable campus with many challenges to solve. As the players explore it alone or in local or online co-op, they’ll get to learn many secrets about the Academy and its nature.

The full campaign is brand new and abuses the fact it takes place in a digital world to offer big, life-threatening thrills. The Steam page mentions spiked ceilings, a 100-foot abyss that players may fall into, and other traps that will serve as a method of “confronting one’s mortality.”
The debut trailer shows some of the areas and challenges with hidden puzzles to uncover. Some of these include spinning multiple lock combinations, using water to reflect brown tiles or opening an Aztec pyramid with a Death Whistle.
Going Back to School
The originalEscape Academycame out in 2022 and had a similar premise: as a new student, you have to become an escapist. There are many hand-crafted rooms to explore, and they were conceived by experts in real-life escape rooms.
Co-op playwas already part of the game with both local and online splitscreen options. It’s possible to play the entire game with help from a friend if the player prefers, or go through it all alone. There are also competitive puzzles, including Tic-Tac-Toe and an Escape Race to see who gets out of the rooms first.
As a follow-up, Escape Academy 2 will bring some of the familiar faces and areas of Escape Academy back. While there will be new places and brand-new puzzles to solve, those who enjoyed the original release will find many details to enjoy, such as evil genius DJ Doseone being back. The original soundtrack will feature tracks that are meant to fit the mental strain of the challenges.

Compared to the original game, Escape Academy 2 will have a No-Timer mode, which allows players to opt for a more relaxed pace when solving the puzzles. As such, the developers hope to also please a more casual audience.
