Last week, we reported that Warner Bros. has found a replacement for the departingSeth Grahame-SmithonThe Flash, withDopedirectorRick Famuyiwacoming aboard. As it turns out, if you had been following the director’s Twitter, there were clues that he was boarding a DC movie, as he started following a number of people involved in the DCEU, such asCyborgactorRay Fisher, Batman himselfBen Affleck, directorZack SnyderandWonder WomanstarGal Gadot. There is another intriguing development with hisTwitteractivity, which may hint thatChanning Tatumhas left 20th Century Fox’s Marvel adaptationGambitin favor of a DC movie, possiblyThe Flash.
Channing Tatumwas one of the many other accountsdirector Rick Famuyiwafollowed last week, including comic book artistMark Waid, DC Films' chiefGeoff Johnsand the official Twitter accounts for bothSuicide SquadandWonder Woman. SinceChanning Tatumis the only one in this list who isn’t officially connected to a DC project, many have speculated that this could mean the actor has jumped ship to DC. Of course, we won’t know for sure until an official announcement is made, but it’s possible sinceGambitwas recently delayed due to script issues.

We reported in March that filming on theGambit moviewas originally supposed to take place this spring, but filming was delayed to later this year, with the studio pulling the movie from its previously-announced release date of June 16, 2025.Channing Tatum’s writing and producing partnerReid Carolinhas taken over the scripting duties onGambit, which still doesn’t have a director in place afterDoug Limanleft to make another movie,The Wallfor Amazon Studios.
We haven’t heard anything aboutGambit’s progress since that report from March, so it’s entirely possible that the project simply fell apart, withChanning Tatumpossibly moving on toThe Flashor another DC project. Of course, it’s also possible thatRick Famuyiwajust followed the actor because he was a fan of his work, but sinceChanning Tatumwas followed by the director at the same time he followed other DC luminaries, many think there could be a connection there toChanning Tatumsigning on for aDC movie.
It’s worth noting thatChanning Tatumhasn’t followedRick Famuyiwaback on Twitter, and he doesn’t follow any of those other accounts associated with DC. Still, given the lack of progress and/or updates onGambit, we’re still not sure whether or not this movie will eventually make it to the big screen. Stay tuned for more updates onGambitandChanning Tatum’s possible future in theDC Extended Universe.
