Diablo 4could come toSwitch 2if the console makes managing live service games easier than the current Switch.

Diablo 4 Could Join Nintendo Switch 2’s Game Lineup

Blizzard is no stranger to Nintendo consoles. Games likeOverwatchandDiablo 3were already available on the Nintendo Switch, so it’s only natural that many are wondering whetherDiablo 4will make its way to its successor, theNintendo Switch 2—a question thatRod Fergusson, the head of the Diablo franchise, has now addressed.

“I think there’s a possibility, of course,” Fergusson commented. “I mean, we have Diablo III and Diablo II: Resurrected on Switch, and with backward compatibility, those will be playable on Switch 2. Also, the Switch 2 has the power to run a game like Diablo IV, so yes, it’s definitely something worth exploring.”

Live Service Compatibility Is the Main Challenge

“However, I think the challenge with this version is less about hardware and more about how the system will handlelive service games, which have been somewhat challenging on the current Switch.”

“That’s why I hope that when they launch the console in June, they make this aspect much easier—so that it makes more sense to release a live service game on that platform.”

For now, that’s all that has been officially said on the matter. There’s no confirmation that this version is actually in development, but Fergusson’s words do offer some hope, making it clear that the console’s technical limitations won’t be a barrier—should they decide to move forward with a port ofDiablo 4
