What is the Aberrant Action in Destiny 2?
Before we dive into specifics, let me quickly explain what the Aberrant Action is and why Guardians are so excited about it. The Aberrant Action is a “Rocket Sidearm” meaning itfires high-damage, explosive projectiles.
This new Legendary Rocket Sidearm is also thefirst with the Solar element, whichsynergizes with several builds. At the time of writing, the only other Rocket Sidearms in Destiny 2 are the Indebted Kindness andThe Call. Both weapons hit like freight trains, and the Aberrant Action is no different.
Rocket Sidearms consume Special Ammoand fill a cozy niche between Sniper and Fusion Rifles. I’ll delve into the God Roll shortly, but there are some outrageous Perk Combinations to look out for.
Destiny 2 Aberrant Action Perk Pool
A Solar Rocket Sidearm is enough to interest most players, but the Aberrant Action truly shines with its Perk Pool. All Aberrant Action Sidearms roll with theRocket-Assisted Frame and Radiolaria Transposer Origin Trait.
The Frame makes it fire those sweet, high-damage projectiles, and the Origin Trait explodes targets ina pool of radiolarian fluid on rapid final blows. The Aberrant Action has four perk columns, and here’s what they include:

Aberrant Action God Roll and best perks for PvE
It may not be the most original suggestion, but the God Roll I’m chasing isHeal Clip and Incandescent. This combination is incredible on any weapon it can roll on. Heal Clip cures you and nearby allies when you reload after a final blow.Incandescent spreads scorch when you defeat a target, which makes it a mob-clearing monster.
I missed my opportunity for this combo withThe Luna’s Howl, so I’ll be farming extra hard for it this time, especially since it’s craftable! While most Guardians will squeal with joy if they get the God Roll, there area few decent alternatives.
Beacon Rounds and Incandescentretain the explosive power of the God Roll but make it so we never miss a shot. Wegain tracking projectiles with Beacon Rounds if we score a final blow. The Aberrant Action has a sluggish reload time, so accuracy is a valuable stat many Guardians will overlook.
Finally, asmelee buildsare all the rage right now,don’t overlook Pugilist and Swashbuckler. Pugilist grants melee energy on final blows, and Swashbuckler increases the Aberrant Action’s damage when you score melee kills.
Aberrant Action PvP Godroll and best perks
TheCrucible is an entirely different beastto PvE and demands a unique approach. I’m a sucker for Shotguns in PvP, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Fortunately, the Aberrant Action has a spicy combination for punching holes in enemy Guardians.
Threat Detector and Snapshot Sightsis a lethal perk roll for PvP. We gain multiple handling improvements with Threat Detector, and Snapshot Sights increase our ADS speed.
I’d take a snappy weapon over gimmicks in The Crucible, and this is a superb combination to do it with.
EvenThreat Detector and Demolitionistmay be worth considering if you value grenades. Demolitionist grants grenade energy if you score a kill with the Aberrant Action.
Perks are often muted in PvP, so anything that improves weapon handling or energy regeneration is more desirable against Guardians.
How to farm the Aberrant Action in Destiny 2
We’ll update this guide if any genius farming methods are discovered, butyou can get the Aberrant Action from Echo Engrams. You canfarm Echo Engrams at a decent rate through seasonal activitieslike the Arena: Breach Executable on HELM. There are also plenty of Echo Engrams up for grabs on the Premium track of the Season Pass.
Make sure to visit Failsafe at HELM, as you may already have Echo Engrams waiting to be decoded. Remember touse Seasonal Engram Focusingto target weapons specifically. After gettingfive red border Aberrant Actions, you’ll unlock crafting which then allows you to create your own God Roll Aberrant Action.
The Aberrant Action already looks like a strong contender for one ofthe best Legendary weapons in the game. Make sure toadd it to your collectionalong with other potent legacy weapons.
