Black Myth: Wukong Heads to Xbox One Year Later
Better late than never. That’s what Xbox players are thinking after the surprise announcement thatBlack Myth: Wukongis coming to Microsoft consoles — even though it once seemed the Monkey King’s adventure by Game Science would remain a PlayStation 5 console exclusive forever.
Let’s remember that the title was originally announced forPS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but in August 2024, it only launched on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Store.
What Happened to the Xbox version?
The Chinese studio justified the delay with alleged technical issuesrelated to porting the game toXbox Series S, but others believe there was indeed a one-year exclusivity agreement with Sony PlayStation (as reported by Forbes).
The important thing is thatBlack Myth: Wukongwill officially launch onXbox Series X|SonAugust 20, 2025, as confirmed by Xbox’s official accounts and a press release from Game Science.
Pre-orders open onJune 18, and the game is expected to appear during theXbox Games Showcase + The Outer Worlds 2 Directtaking place thisSunday, June 8 at 7:00 PM (local time).
Just like withDeath Stranding Director’s Cut,Xbox players will be able to purchase Game Science’s action-RPG with a special launch discount.
Pre-Orders and Showcase Appearance
StartingWednesday, June 18,Black Myth: Wukongwill be available for pre-order on Xbox Series X|S through the Microsoft Store, with alimited-time 20% discount. This promotion also applies to the PS5 and PC versions.
That same day, the different editions of the game for Xbox will be revealed — likely in digital format, although the PS5 version also saw a physical edition (which was a huge hit in countries like Spain and Italy).
The discount promotion will rununtil June 24, 2025, the game’s official launch date on Xbox, and applies to both the Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition.
As for content, the Xbox version will include thebase game and the first free DLC(released in December 2024), along with all the features and improvements already available on the other platforms.
