Witchfire gave me a hard time when I started my first playthrough. With each run, I began to improve, and a big part of my progression was upgrading my stats. However, some stats are worth more investment than others. Let’s take a look at the stats in Witchfire and see which ones are the best to upgrade.
What Stats Should I Upgrade in Witchfire?
There aresixtypes of stats in Witchfire, and after some experimenting, it’s clear that some are better than others. Upgrading a stat is expensive, so you should be very careful about which ones you choose to improve. Overall, I’d suggest focusing onLuck,Metanoia, andVitality/Endurancewhen you upgrade a stat. Here are the best stats in order:
Luck and Metanoia are the best stats to focus on early in the game, as they both increase the returns you get on runs. Following that, Vitality and Endurance can be upgraded depending on whether you want more health or more stamina.Don’t bother upgrading Healing, as Vitality is the better choice, and Witchery isn’t terribly useful because you shoot more than you cast spells. Upgrading stats is better at lower levels, as you’ll see diminishing returns later on.

What does Luck do in Witchfire?
Luck is a great stat in Witchfire, as itboosts drops by enemies. Drops from enemies can give you various items, such as ammo, elixirs, supply keys, and more. Witchfire is a challenging game, so improving your Luck will increase your odds of survival. It’s unclear if Luck increases your chances of avoiding a curse from artifacts, but it’s worth investing in this stat regardless.
What does Metanoia do in Witchfire?
Metanoia works similarly to Luck in Witchfire, but itincreases the rate at which you gain experience/Witchfire. Increasing this is crucial early on, as you start off extremely weak. As you get more experience, you’re able to upgrade your stats more frequently andbecome more powerful.
How to Upgrade Stats in Witchfire
You can only upgrade your stats at theAscension Shrinein Witchfire. You can find the shrine in theHermitoriumat the top of the stairs. Interacting with the Ascension Shrine allows you to spend your Witchfire and permanently upgrade a stat.
